I am writing this en route back home to London from Ireland, while cruising at 32,000'.
I am a great believer in taking short breaks to help re-asses ones plans and goals. We are all victims of our routines, and occasionally, our daily habits need interrupting so that one can get a clearer view of where you are and where you are headed. And so after three days of relative downtime, I made myself a new mind map for what needed doing in 2008.
It didn't take long as I had been mulling it over for the last few days. I find things like a long hot shower really good for shutting down the left side of the brain and freeing up the right, creative and innovative side of the brain – and when all you need to do in the day is figure out what your next meal will be, there is plenty of time for a long hot shower! I believe most of us don't fully appreciate how important these semi-medative sessions can be (I include long journeys in the car or on the train, long walks, even exercise and massage – in fact anytime you are awake and alert but not locked into left brain process, detail and procedures, like writing or talking about stuff).
After doing my mind map, I isolated three specific target areas I need to spend time on in the next few weeks if I am going to achieve what I need to achieve this year. I don't want to go into detail, but I am hoping you will see the impact in due course.
Onward and upward!
