A great looking film, camera angles, editing etc. This would make a fantastic music video.

As for a feature film perhaps thats a whole different ballgame. Hypothetically, if you can make a badly written, directed acted film with hollywood style sfx then the sfx illusion will fade and good acting or 3d could become fashionable.

Better examples of this are the star wars fan films.

Personally for me what makes a great film is a well put together balance of film craft such as acting, fx, lighting, sound etc and most importantly story and that certain X factor.

It's a nice effects reel, but to say it was done for a few hundred pounds is a bit shallow. Unless they can find me somewhere I can buy that quality camera, that quality editing software, through in a computer to do all the processing on, and I'll happily hand over £300 - in fact, I'll even buy you a cake as a token of my thanks :)

I agree completely. This film did not cost $300... But it does highlight the fact that most film makers now own their own stuff, be it a camera. editing and FX software... So this is no longer considered part of the budget. Much like a musician who owns their own violin. More importantly, its a headline grabber, made for $300...

    About Chris

I am just like you. Passionate. Crazy mad. For movies that is. Can’t get enough. Watching movies. Making movies. Talking about movies. Drives my girlfriend Lucia nuts! So yep. Passionate, crazy and mad. And yes, I am a little schizo too. Thing is, I love making films as much as I do teaching film making. Hence, Make Film, Teach Film. I have spent my life making films and sharing what I have learned with those who, like me, have been infected with the 'film virus'... I've made three feature films, action thriller ‘The Runner’, serial killer thriller ‘White Angel’ and paranormal horror ‘Urban Ghost Story’. I also co-created and authored The Guerilla Film Makers Handbook series, and currently there are six editions! Most recently, I made the multi-award winning and Oscars shortlisted ‘Gone Fishing’. I run film making workshops and my offices are at Ealing Film Studios where I am currently plotting my next big adventure…
